My Go-To Hat for Gardening, Fishing, and Hot Summer Days
Spending time outside in the summer is a lot more enjoyable when you’re not overheating. This cooling bucket hat has a built-in headband that activates with water to keep your head cooler for up to two hours. Add in mesh ventilation, a chin strap, and an adjustable fit, and it’s become one of my favorite hats for gardening, walking, or just relaxing by the water.

What this solves
Regular hats block the sun but trap heat. This cooling bucket hat solves that by absorbing water into the headband and releasing it slowly to keep you cooler. It also allows airflow through the mesh crown so you’re not sweating under a heavy cap.
How I use it
- Run the headband under water until it’s soaked.
- Wring it out, shake it, and put it on — the cooling effect starts right away.
- Re-wet when it dries out, usually after a couple of hours in the sun.
- Adjust the chin strap or back drawstring for a secure fit.
- Wear it for gardening, fishing, hiking, or any time I’m outdoors in hot weather.
Pros
- Cooling headband works for up to two hours.
- Mesh top allows airflow.
- Adjustable chin strap and back drawstring.
- Easy to reactivate by rewetting.
- Lightweight and comfortable.
Cons
- Cooling effect fades after a couple of hours and needs rewetting.
