The Hydro Flask Tumbler I Reach for Every Day

This Hydro Flask tumbler lives on my desk or next to my knitting spot pretty much every day. My doctors have told me I tend to run dehydrated so I made a deal with myself to keep something cold and ready within reach all day long. I limit myself to two 7-Ups and then it is water the rest of the time. Having a tumbler that actually keeps ice cold from morning until well into the next day makes that habit a lot easier to stick to.
It has also solved a problem I did not expect it to solve, which I will get to in a minute.

What this solves
Not all tumblers are created equal. Many don’t hold ice very long, or they leak if tipped. The Hydro Flask tumbler solves that by keeping drinks cold for over 24 hours while giving you a secure, click-shut lid that helps prevent spills.

How I use it
- Fill with ice in the morning, it lasts well into the next day.
- Use with or without a straw through the wide opening.
- Keep it in the car for errands or trips.
- Rinse after use and hand wash to preserve the finish.

Real World Use
The knitting spot use is where this really lives. I will fill it in the morning, set it on the table next to my yarn, and it is just there all day. I do not have to think about it, refill it constantly, or deal with a lukewarm drink by mid afternoon. The ice outlasts my attention span for any project I am working on, which is saying something.
Now about those gnats. If you live in Florida you know. Gnats find open drinks faster than you can blink and there is nothing worse than taking a sip and then lifting the lid to see what is floating in there. I use the straw opening on this lid and sometimes tuck a small bit of paper towel around the straw where it goes in. Problem solved. The lid clicks shut when I am not actively drinking so nothing gets in. It is not leakproof if tipped over so I keep it on a stable surface, but for keeping the drink covered and the gnats out it works perfectly.

The 36 hour ice claim is real by the way. I have tested it without meaning to by forgetting to empty it overnight and finding ice still floating the next morning. For someone trying to stay hydrated throughout the day that kind of performance makes the whole habit easier to maintain.

Should you buy it
If you spend long stretches at a desk, a knitting chair, or anywhere you want a cold drink within reach without constantly getting up to refill it, this is the tumbler for that. The ice retention is genuinely impressive and the lid design keeps things covered between sips. For anyone in a warm climate dealing with the gnat situation, the click-shut lid is a feature worth having all on its own.

Final thoughts on the Hydro Flask tumbler
This tumbler impressed me with how long it keeps ice. Even after 36 hours, there’s still ice left, which makes it one of the most effective insulated cups I’ve used. It’s not completely leakproof, but for everyday use it’s hard to beat.
